Dorothy Day House's
Outreach Teams
Charity is only as warm as those who administer it. - Dorothy Day.png

One of Dorothy Day House's initiatives that came about because of the COVID-19 crisis is our focus on Outreach and Engagement. As of 2019, there were 1,108  individuals living outside in Berkeley in encampments. In addition to distribution of sanitizer, masks, food and hygiene kits, the people living in these encampments are assisted by our street teams with access to housing, mental health services and COVID-19 related testing and health service referrals.

We have two outreach teams: the Mobile Outreach Service Team (MOST) and the Street Partnership Outreach Team (SPOT)

Check out the video below to see what an average day of work looks like for our Outreach teams:

Dorothy Day House's outreach services are run in proud partnership with:

  • Bay Area Community Services (BACS)

  • Lifelong Medical Clinic

  • Berkeley Mental Health

  • City of Berkeley
